Preghiere alla Madonna del Perpetuo Soccorso

Prima Preghiera

Ecco, o Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso, ai vostri piedi un misero peccatore, che a voi ricorre ed in voi confida. O Madre di Misericordia abbiate pietà di me: io sento chiamarvi da tutti il refugio e la speranza dei peccatori: siate dunque il rifugio e la speranza mia. Socorretemi per amore di Gesù Cristo: date la mano ad un misero caduto che a Voi si raccomanda e si dedica per Vostro servo perpetuo. Benedico e ringrazio Iddio che per sua misericordia mi ha data questa confidenza in Voi, la quale io tengo per caparra della mia eterna salute. Ah! che pur troppo pel passato io misero son caduto, perchè non sono ricorso a Voi! So che col vostro concorso vincerò, so che mi aiuterete se a Voi mi raccomando: ma temo che nele occasioni di cadere io abbia a lasciare di chiamarvi e così mi perda. Questa grazia dunque Vi cerco, di questa grazia Vi scongiuro quantoso e posso, che cioè negli assalti dell’inferno sempre ricorra a Voi e Vi dica: Maria aiutatemi; Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso, non permettete che perda il mio Dio.

Seconda Preghiera

O Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso, concedetemi che io possa sempre invocare il Vostro potentissimo nome. Mentre il Vostro nome è l’aiuto di chi vive, la salute di chi muore. Ah! Maria purissima! Maria dolcissima! fate che il Vostro nome sia da oggi innanzi il respiro della mia vita. Signora! non tardate a soccorrermi sempre che Vi chiamo, giacchè in tutte le tentazioni che mi combatteranno, in tutt’i bisogni che mi occorreranno, io non voglio lasciar mai di chiamarvi ripetendo sempre: Maria, Maria! Qual conforto, quale dolcezza, quale confidenza, qual tenerezza sente l’anima mia in solo nominarvi in solo pensare a Voi! Ringrazio il Signore, che Vi ha dato per mio bene questo nome così dolce, così amabile e così potente. Ma non mi contento di solamente nominarvi, voglio nominarvi per amore, voglia che l’amore mi ricordi di chiamarvi sempre: Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso.

Terza Preghiera

O Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso, Voi siete la dispensiera di tutte le grazie, che Dio concede a noi misarabili ed a questo fine Vi ha fatta così potente, così ricca e così benigna, acciocchè ci soccorriate nelle nostre miserie. Voi siete Avvocata de’ rei più miseri ed abbandonati, che a Voi ricorrono: soccorrete me ancora che a Voi mi raccomando. In mano Vostra metto la mia eterna salute, a Voi consegno l’anima mia. Ascrivetemi tra i Vostri servi più speciali, prendetemi sotto la Vostra protezione e ciò me basta: sì, perchè se Voi mi soccorrete, non temo niente: no dei miei peccati, perchè Voi me ne otterrete il perdono: non dei demoni, perchè Voi siete più potente di tutto l’inferno: non del mio stesso giudice Gesù, perchè ad una Vostra pregiera Egli si placa. Temo solo che per mia negligenza lasci di raccomandarmi a Voi e così sarò perduto. Signora mia! ottenetemi il perdono de’ miei peccati, l’amore a Gesù, la preserveranza finale e la grazia di sempre ricorrere a Voi, Madre del Perpetuo Soccorso.

The Three Novena Prayers

These three prayers may all be said several ways. All three may be said at one time. They may be divided throughout the day, the first being said in the morning, the second during the day, the third in the evening. Finally, they may be said in rotation: the first prayer on the first, fourth, and seventh day or week; the second prayer on the second, fifth, and eighth day or week; the third prayer on the third, sixth, and nineth day or week.

FIRST NOVENA PRAYER IN HONOR OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

Behold at thy feet, O Mother of Perpetual Help, a wretched sinner who has recourse to thee and confides in thee. O Mother of mercy, have pity on me. I hear thee called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners: be then, my refuge and my hope. Assist me, for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to a miserable fallen creature who recommends himself to thee, and who devotes himself to thy service for ever. I bless and thank Almighty God, who in His mercy has given me this confidence in thee, which I hold to be a pledge of my eternal salvation. It is true, dearest Mother, that in the past I have miserably fallen into sin, because I had not recourse to thee. I know that, with thy help, I shall conquer. I know, too, that thou wilt assist me, if I recommend myself to thee; but I fear dear Mother, that in time of danger, I may neglect to call on thee, and thus lose my soul. This grace, then, I ask of thee, and this I beg, with all the fervor of my soul, that in all the attacks of hell I may ever have recourse to thee. O Mary, help me. O Mother of Perpetual Help, never suffer me to lose my God.

SECOND NOVENA PRAYER TO OUR MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP

O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O purest Mary, O sweetest Mary, let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me, whenever I call on thee; for, in all my temptations, in all my needs, I shall never cease to call on thee, ever repeating thy sacred name, Mary, Mary. O what consolation, what sweetness, what confidence, what emotion, fill my soul when I utter thy sacred name, or even only think of thee. I thank the Lord for having given thee, for my good, so sweet, so powerful, so lovely a name. But I will not be content with merely uttering thy name. Let my love for thee prompt me ever to hail thee, Mother of Perpetual Help.

THIRD NOVENA PRAYER TO OUR MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP

O Mother of Perpetual Help, thou art the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end He has made thee so powerful, so rich, and so bountiful, in order that thou mayest help us in our misery. Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee: come to my aid, dearest Mother, for I recommend myself to thee. In thy hands I place my eternal salvation, and to thee I entrust my soul. Count me among thy most devoted servants; take me under thy protection, and it is enough for me. For, if thou protect me, dear Mother, I fear nothing; not from my sins, because thou wilt obtain for me the pardon of them; nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all hell together; nor even from Jesus, my judge, because by one prayer from thee He will be appeased. But one thing I fear: that in the hour of temptation I may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the online novena to our Mother of Perpetual Help. My hope is to provide a place in the blogsphere where we can come together to pray for one another's needs and intentions through the intercession of Mary the Mother of God under the title of Mother of Perpetual Help.

Still in development, this blog will be a place to find a weekly sermon as well as a place to share intentions and thanksgivings. I'm still not sure how this will work, but I wanted to get it started before the feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on June 27. Please bear with me as this is my first attempt at blogging.

The most important thing we can do is pray for one another, the Church, and the world through our Lady's intercession. To that end, the second post will be the traditional version of the three main Novena Prayers. Feel free to save them to your own computer and/or print them out for your use. These prayers were adapted by the Redemptorists from prayers of their great founder, Saint Alphonsus Liguori, which can be found in his well-known Glories of Mary.

May our Mother of Perpetual Help keep you always close to the Heart of her Son.
